Chris Hannah co-founded GoodwinHannah in 2006 following extensive experience as a NHS chief executive and senior civil servant.
Chris Hannah’s assignments have included leading complex independent inquiries into patient care issues and reviews of critical incidents including examination of board governance arrangements. Chris also leads GoodwinHannah on its board and team development. She has undertaken development with a range of boards of all types of NHS organisations including Foundation Trusts, Primary Care Trusts, and NHS Trusts seeking foundation status. She also has an extensive coach-mentoring practice as well as undertaking organisational development with a range of clients and organisations across the public and third sectors.
Before co-founding GoodwinHannah Chris Hannah had extensive experience in the NHS and civil service gained over three decades. Most recently she was chief executive of Cheshire and Merseyside Strategic Health Authority (SHA). The SHA was the second largest and amongst the most complex regional health services in England, with responsibility for a population of £2.4 million, £3 billion of NHS spend and 33 NHS organisations. Chris also has six years experience as a senior civil servant having worked in the Department of Health’s Northwest Regional Office as director of strategic development, where she worked closely with the local NHS, ministers and politicians.
During her time as SHA chief executive Chris led on workforce issues on behalf of the then 28 SHA chief executives and was a member of the National Workforce Board for the NHS. She led the HR work stream for Commissioning a Patient Led NHS on behalf of the NHS.
She is currently non-executive chair of Skills for Health, the sector skills council for the whole UK health sector, licensed by the Department for Education and Skills. Skills for Health works with employers to identify and address skill gaps and productivity in the UK health workforce.
Chris is a qualified executive coach-mentor, having completed the Advanced Diploma in Professional Coach-Mentoring Practice at the Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring. She is also qualified in the use of the Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI). Chris has a master's degree in management learning from the University of Lancaster and during an early career in human resource management became a graduate of Institute of Personnel Management in 1984.
